What We Believe

This is only a summary of our beliefs. Feel free to visit any of our Services and meet with our Pastor to learn more about Trussville Southside Baptist Church.

We believe the Holy Bible to be divinely inspired of God. It is the complete revelation of God to man, it is our final authority to be used in all matters of doctrine, faith and practice. We use the King James Bible in our teaching and preaching.
Psalm 12:6-7, 19:7-11,119:89; Proverbs 30:5-6; Matthew 5:18; Mark 13:31; John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:23-25; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Revelation 22:18-19

We believe there is only one living God, the creator of heaven and earth, an eternally existent Trinity in the persons of the Father, the Word (Jesus Christ the Son), and the Holy Ghost; these three are one in essence, but distinct in person and function, equal in power and glory.
Genesis 1:26, Exodus 20:2-3, Isaiah 44:6, 1 John 5:7; 1 Corinthians 8:6, Revelation 4:11

We believe in the Genesis account of creation, that the Earth the universe and the fullness thereof was created by God. That man was created directly in God's own image and after His own likeness.
Genesis 1:1, 26-27, 2:2, 7, Genesis 5-8; Exodus 20:11, Colossians 1:16-17, Romans 1:20; 1 Peter 3:20;

We believe that Adam, the first man, by his own free will made a choice to disobey God which the Bible declares as sin. This sin passed on to all mankind through the blood and resulted in both physical and spiritual death for all. As a result, all men are sinners by nature, and upon the age of accountability (understanding the difference between right and wrong and then choosing wrong), are then condemned to an eternity in the lake of fire. The good news is that God has made a way of escape through the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. The only hope of deliverance for man is a change of mind, in agreeing with God that we are sinners, and that His son Jesus Christ suffered and died for our sins personally. We must come to a point of repentance; that is a change of mind, which begins upon hearing the Word of God, and that by sorrow of heart one thinks differently about their former sins, and particularly of their disbelief in Jesus Christ as Lord, which results in a turning from sins and religion and a turning toward God for salvation by faith in Jesus Christ. Upon hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and accepting it, we become born again into God's family and that salvation is open to "whosoever will" humble themselves and receive Jesus Christ as their Saviour.
John 3:1-18, 10:27-30,14:6; Acts 4:12, 20:21, Romans 3:23, 5:8, 12, 19, 6:23, 10:9-13, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 12:1, 2 Peter 3:9; 1 John 4:14-15, 5:13, 2 Corinthians 7:10

We believe that the New Testament church is a local visible body of baptized believers. We believe the members ought to voluntarily unite together for the purposes of worship, fellowship and service. That God has ordained the local church for the edification of the saints and the propagation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth until he returns.
Matthew 16:16-18, 26:26-30, 28:18-20, Mark 16:15, Luke 22:14-20, 24:47, Acts 1:6-8, 2:38-47, 6:3, 20:28, 1 Corinthians 11:23-34, 12:27, 15: 51-58, 16:1-2, 2 Corinthians 5:20, Ephesians 1, 4:11-16, 1 Timothy 3:1-13, Hebrews 10:25

We believe that God has given the church a great commission to proclaim the Gospel to all the world so that there would be a great multitude from every kindred, tongue, nation and people saved from everlasting destruction. We are committed to missions through sending, supporting and praying for missionaries of like faith and practice who being called out by the Holy Ghost are sent to plant churches in their Jerusalem, Judaea, Samaria and the uttermost part of the earth.
Matthew 28:19-20, Mark 16:15, Luke 24:46-48, John 20:21, Acts 1:8, 2 Corinthians 5:20, 1 Thessalonians 1:7-10, Revelation 5:9

We believe that the Bible teaches personal holiness and to live in such a manner as to not bring reproach upon our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That we should strive to live sanctified lives, that is to set ourselves apart from sin and to consecrate our lives for the service of the Lord.
Romans 12:1-2, 16:17, 1 Corinthians 1:30-31, 5:9-13; 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1, Ephesians 4:10; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; 1 Timothy 6:3-5, 2 Timothy 3:1-5; 1 Peter 1:2; 1 John 2:15-17, 2 John 1:9-11

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men. At death the souls of the believers go immediately to be with Christ, to eternal life and blessedness in God's presence in Heaven. The souls of the unbelievers at death descend immediately into Hell where they are kept until the Great White Throne Judgment, at which time, their bodies shall be raised from the grave only to be judged and cast into the lake of fire for having rejected Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Matthew 25:46, Luke 16:19-31; John 5:28-29, 8:24, 11:25-26; 14:1-6, 2 Corinthians 5:6-8, Philippians 1:21-24, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9, Hebrews 9:27; Revelation 20-22

We believe in the imminent, pre-tribulation and pre-millennial appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ for His Church (commonly called the rapture). Followed on earth by a seven-year tribulation period, after which Christ will return in glory with His church to judge the world and establish His millennial reign on earth. After which Satan will be defeated and cast into the Lake of Fire. This time will be followed by the Great White Throne judgment of the unsaved and the presentation of the new heaven, new earth and new Jerusalem.
Acts 1:11, 1 Corinthians 3:11-15, 15:51-58, 2 Corinthians 5:10, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, Revelation 19-22
